Recreational activity surveys have been carried out to gather information on how people use different areas and the level of activities that occur. A standard methodology was developed to collect observational data which was then adapted to suit requirements for each location. This evidence will be used to inform conversations about where and how we may need to protect the seabed from potentially damaging levels of activity. The aim is that we repeat these surveys over time to determine how effective ReMEDIES actions have been. Thank you to our volunteers and partners for their time and effort to help gather this data.
In order to update our knowledge of Marine Recreational Activity in Plymouth Sound and Estuaries SAC, a project was completed in 2023/2024. This included visitor and observational surveys Plymouth sound and Estuaries MPA marine recreation study 2023_2024 as well as a Desktop overview of recreational impact pathways within the Plymouth Sound and Tamar Estuaries MPA
