Plymouth is Britain’s Ocean City, a vibrant, waterfront city that cares about its environment.
Plymouth City Council hosts the Tamar Estuaries Consultative Forum, a partnership of organisations and local authorities with statutory responsibility towards the management of the Plymouth Sound and Tamar Estuaries Marine Protected Area (MPA). The MPA is internationally important and is home to a stunning diversity of wildlife and the rich culture that has grown up around it.
The Tamar Estuaries Consultative Forum led by Plymouth City Council is a key partner in the ReMEDIES project and our role is to coordinate and liaise between partners, local communities and stakeholders. Plymouth City Council will ensure the work of ReMEDIES is heard across the city through educational summer roadshows, information boards and useful guides to help local people learn about the Ocean. We will lead on surveys and engagement activities to assess recreational activities and impacts, and encourage sensitive and responsible use of the marine environment through voluntary codes of conduct.
